We arrived into the Ottawa International Airport to find our families waiting with eagerness to meet the new addition to their family. Reuben handled it pretty well and Portia loved the extra attention that was doted on her. On the way home, Reuben made it clear that he wasn't a fan of car seats and cried himself into a stupor the whole way. The tears rolling down his face made me feeling like he knew that some changes were happening...afterall he is 17 months old. He kept trying to grab and hold me as tight as he could and get out of his seat. I felt like he thought perhaps we were handing him off to someone else and made me want to cry along with him. He regained his compure when we finally arrived home, but looked around hesitantly and clung to those he knew. Within an hour or less, you could feel him starting to relax, perhaps even realize that he was safe. There were some gifts waiting for Portia and Reuben so of course the toys were a great distraction. Reuben is definitely a man's man. He loves to be held by men and loves cars and the Little People garage. Yes he occasionally would reach out for Portia's play tea set or some girly toy, but only to bang it around and make noise. He's finally home and moves around like he owns the place. We wouldn't have it any other way. We thank God for getting us home safely and allowing Reuben and Portia to sleep many of the 15 hours on that last leg home.
Home Sweet Home
