My little bookworm can always be found in a cozy corner reading away. She always gets herself comfortable so today she stripped down to her undershirt and underwear, put on her princess crown and nestled herself in a pile of pillows.
We received Portia's report card and had a meeting with her teacher yesterday. She's doing really well, infact the teacher said she's very smart, however, she has one thing to work on...social skills. This really didn't come as a surprise. Actually, we've been working on this with her and the teacher said she has improved since the start of the year, so I guess that's a positive. She's just not tactful in getting her message across. For example, yesterday I volunteered and the teacher had all the students in a circle. Portia was sitting near the back, whereas a friend was sitting closer to the teacher and then Portia blurted out in front of the class "______ is picking his nose and eating his snots!" Of course the little guy got embarrassed and denied the allegation (at least initially since it was true). The teacher spoke to her about how she could have spoken to her friend in private or spoke quietly to the teacher about it. Anyways, we've spent the last day working on how we can say things in situations she usually encounters. I'll let you know when she's a teenager, to see if it's had any effect.
We had a date night so after eating at Wild Wings, we decided to join our friends for some bowling. Haven't done it in years but what a blast! We'll definitely be doing that again.
