The Weekend

We spent Friday with my cousin Julia (husband Helder & gorgeous children, Mason & Petra). They have a beautiful home with a pool, but unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate. Didn't really matter since the kids played really well inside together. Infact Portia konked out during dinner from pure exhaustion. It was a nice break from chaos, and I got to spend at least 10 hours with my cousin catching up, with amazingly no moments of silence. My only regret was not taking any pictures. I'm trying to get better at remembering. Oh well, next time.

On Saturday, we finally got the last bit of our vaccinations. We all have our Hep A, Hep B and Typhoid shots. All our regular vaccinations are up-to-date. We've taken Dukoral as a pre-measure against diaarhea. On Thursday, we will start taking the Malaria pills. Since we aren't really planning to travel to rural areas, we didn't have to worry about Japenese encephalitis or Rabies. Our travel doctor also supplied us with other anti-biotics which I'm grateful for, since we needed it last time in Mexico for Portia.

On Saturday night, my dear friends, Marianne & Viv hosted a wonderful co-ed shower for us (no kids, which will probably be the last time in a long time) with many of our close friends joining in on the festivities. They ran with a Vietnamese theme and I just loved all the little details. Not only did we they have a candy dessert table, but we also got fresh icecream served in fruit shells (coconut, lemon & orange). Yum!!

On Sunday, we had a great lunch at Clint & Heather's. Portia hit it off with their youngest Owen and I think between the two of them, they must of sucked on 100 Gobstoppers. Too cute! Dave, Cindy and their boys Hunter & Dawson also joined us for lunch so it was a fun and relaxing group.

We ended our weekend at my mom & Pat's for a delicious family dinner. We finally got to meet my sister Sophie's boyfriend Vince. He's a super nice guy so we're happy for my sister. But I must admit, as a typical mom, the highlight of my night was Portia's big surprise. She can ride a bike now! We are so proud of her. This year was a big one. She learned how to read, then swim and now ride a bike. Now if we can only teach her how to clean up her toys. LOL!

4 more days left! Yikes!!
